Today, you will find that there are many options for replacing teeth—but nothing compares to the benefits of having your own, natural teeth. In celebration of Save Your Tooth Month, we want to talk about how you can maintain a happy and healthy smile.
Regular check-ups and cleanings are crucial, as they help prevent dental issues from developing into more complex problems. Often, warning signs of dental issues only appear at later stages, making early detection one of the most effective ways to find any potential issues.
For patients experiencing tooth decay, the treatment options vary depending on the size of the decay. Treatment options vary from a simple filling, all the way to extraction. Early detection is the most important thing to increase the chances of saving your teeth.
Root canals are another treatment of choice when the tooth is infected (from caries, fractures, etc). The main goal of root canal therapy is to remove infected tissue from the canals and sterilize/seal them. The issue we are seeing is that many patients think root canal therapy doesn't work, which is not true. If it's properly done, and most importantly if it's properly restored afterwards (most likely with a crown), then the prognosis of the tooth is excellent.
Save Your Tooth Month is an opportunity to celebrate the efforts in dentistry to preserve natural teeth. If you are struggling with dental issues, please schedule your appointment as soon as possible so we can help!
